The French Leave Resort, located in Eleuthera, Bahamas, has a unique history tied to the infamous Count Alfred de Marigny. In 1943, de Marigny was accused of murdering his father-in-law, Sir Harry Oakes, while living in Nassau with his new wife Nancy Oakes. Despite being acquitted of the charge, de Marigny was deported from the Bahamas and had to make his own "French Leave" from the country.
