You can catch a “water taxi” at Three Island Dock which is a 5 minute drive east of North Eleuthera Airport. It's quick and easy. Cost is around $5-$7 per person. The ride to Harbour Island takes about 5 minutes. Once you get there, there are golf carts for rent on Harbour Island -- make reservations in advance. Taxis are also available. Water taxis generally operate from 6:00am thru 9:00pm.

Yes. $1 US dollar equals $1 Bahamian dollar. You can use up your Bahamian change before departure. Expect some minimal surcharges for use of credit cards and traveler's checks. Most merchants do not take Discover or AMEX. Most merchants only accept cash.

It is standard practice in the Bahamas to automatically add a 15% gratuity to your bill. Feel free to tip more if you receive excellent service. There is also a VAT tax added which is currently 10% for Bahamian vendors whose revenues equal or are greather than $100,000 for 2025. More about VAT tax in the Bahamas.

The water treated by the municipalities is usually safe to drink. Most visitors drink bottled water. Some properties will have water collected in a cistern or other methods, but it is not drinkable. Ask where the water comes from and whether it is safe to drink.
