Tippy's Restaurant :: Eleuthera
Tippy's - Bistro Dining, Island Style!
by Rose Mary Joseph
Several years ago, while on our first trip to Harbour Island, we took a day trip to the island of Eleuthera. When lunch time came, we were lucky enough to be in the Governor's Harbour area where we happened upon an appealing restaurant named Tippy's.
Tippy's sits on an eye-popping beachfront, and the building has an open, airy feel that reminds you you're on an island as soon as you walk in. Even though it's on a lovely stretch of beach and has an inviting bar area, Tippy's is not just a beach bar; although if you like a good Mojito, this would most definitely be the place to enjoy one. It's an island bistro with a fun and casual feel, yet offers an upscale creative menu.
Besides the bar, there is a large indoor restaurant, as well as outdoor seating with an excellent ocean view. The bustling kitchen area is in sight on your left as you walk to your table. Reservations are strongly recommended because this place hops.
The menu changes daily, which translates into their dishes being comprised of only the freshest of ingredients. The menu is literally brought to your table on a large blackboard which makes it fun for everyone in your party to peruse together and decide who's getting what.
On that first day trip I opted for their Coconut Shrimp Caesar Salad as my luncheon entrée. The salad was generous, and was topped with a large serving of delightful, perfectly fried coconut shrimp. The sweet succulent shrimp were a great complement to the Caesar Salad. This is a staple on their lunch menu, so I strongly recommend you give it a try when you stop by for lunch.
