Now that we're opting to stay on Eleuthera while on our island vacations, we are always sure to stop by Tippy's for lunch or dinner, or both... and that includes our most recent visit in April.
We three sat at the bar to enjoy a drink prior to heading to our table for dinner. Kathy had her favorite Mojito, while I enjoyed a wonderful glass of chilled chardonnay. Once seated, the big menu was left at our table and we proceeded to happily discuss our options.
I started with an Island Salad with Warm Goat Cheese and Tomatoes. Locally grown mixed greens and tomatoes, tossed with house vinaigrette, served with two pieces of island bread topped with creamy goat cheese. Yum!
When I'm on the island, I can't seem to get enough grouper, so my main course was Cajun Grouper with Papaya Chutney. The fish was perfectly cooked, flaky and moist. Absolutely scrumptious! It was presented beautifully on the plate with its side accompaniments of sweet papaya chutney and fresh local vegetables.
Perry went for the Lobster and Shrimp Pasta. A large serving of al dente pasta in a flavorful creamy sauce, and they weren't shy about the amount of seafood tossed in. I almost had food envy when that dish came to the table.
Kathy's entrée was Seafood Lasagna with Garlic Bread. The delicious layers of pasta were filled with seafood and gooey cheese, covered with thick tasty tomato sauce, and served with warm garlic bread on the side. What's not to like?
Tippy's takes full advantage of that "eating with your eyes first" concept. However, looks aren't everything. Tippy's fully delivers for the ultimate Eleuthera dining experience... looks, flavor, service, view and atmosphere.
After your first visit, you'll see why Tippy's is one of the most popular restaurants on Eleuthera and why people keep returning. Owner David Barlyn and chef/owner Peter Birkwieser obviously know a thing or two about combining island flare, upscale taste and casual dining.
Ask anyone on Eleuthera for restaurant recommendations, and Tippy's will always be on their list.
Tippy's is located between Palmetto Point and Governor's Harbour on Banks Road. The bar opens at noon. Lunch is served from 12:30pm to 2:30pm, and dinner between 6:00pm and 10:00pm, seven days a week.
