South Eleuthera is a fascinating area of the island, rich with historical towns, points of interests and gorgeous beaches:

  • Tarpum Bay
  • Winding Bay
  • Rock Sound
  • Greencastle
  • Deep Creek
  • Delancy Town
  • Waterford
  • Wemyss Bight
  • John Millars
  • Millar's
  • Bannerman Town

One of the more popular locations to shoot beach photos on Eleuthera is on the southeast tip of the island at Lighthouse Beach. This beach, along with some of the other beaches in the area, can be a little more difficult to access and can take a little more time to get to. I wanted a convenient place to stay and eat when visiting the area and that led me to Rose Gibson and her Northside Inn and Restaurant in Rock Sound.  Map location of Northside Inn Restaurant in Rock Sound

Rose is a shining example of Eleuthera hospitality. If you look up the word “sweet” in the dictionary, you will find a picture of Rose. She provides that magic combination of good food, kind charm and authenticity -- the kind of “home away from home”experience that keeps you coming back for more.

Northside Inn and Restaurant is Rose's home away from home. Originally from Grand Bahama, she and her late husband built the establishment in the early 2000s. It's comprised of a number of small cottages and a Bahamian restaurant that overlooks one of the nicest beaches in the area, Northside Beach. Other notably excellent beaches are nearby -- White Road Beach and Whiteland Beach, to name a few. Speaking as a photographer, it's all about location and location and this place is exactly that.
